water, water everywhere
when you live in south louisiana, water surrounds. bayous, rivers, swamps, and lakes physically and spiritually shape our community and culture.
but water is both life and death in louisiana. the levees, pumping stations, and disappearing land are all reminders of our eternal War with Water.
for 300 years we have employed world-class engineering marvels in an attempt to bend the water to our will. but as hurricanes and rising seas have shown-
the water remains in control.
i've been photographing south louisiana for 15 years, and now i'm considering a documentary.
who is most impacted by rising seas and aging infrastructure? how can we learn from them?
how is our coastline changing? is there anything we can do to stop it?
to explore water is an act of both science and soul.
